Solon de
Lucena Park
Solon de Lucena park is located in downtown João
Pessoa. It is a small part of the green which
gave João Pessoa the title of the planet's
second greenest city.
Here is where you can see the "Ipês"
change leaves in the fall and become yellow, creating
a magnificent visual spectacle and forming a carpet
of leaves which make of the lagoon in Solon de

São Francisco Church
Paraíba is one of the biggest baroque centers
in the country, possessing remains from a time when
gold and carvings were God's glory. The group formed
by the San Antonio convent and San Francisco church
is the apex of the baroque expression in the Northeast.
Their rich and well preserved architectural beauty,
as well as the art and frailty of their interior
are priceless work, consecrated in 1734. The San
Francisco Museum, located inside the convent, has
a permanent exhibition of sacra and popular art,
where the most diver manifestations of Brazilian
craftsmanship is exposed.

Jacaré Beach
The encounter of Paraiba River and the ocean in
the town of Cabedelo forms Jacaré Beach
one of the most beautiful and peaceful scenarios
of the Northeast. At the sound of "Bolero
de Ravel" in on of the numerous bars on the
coastline, you will enjoy the most beautiful sunset
of the state, which will live in you memory forever.
You can also take the opportunity to go on a ride
on the boats which dock on the bars and relish
an even better view in the regions near this sanctuary
of great beauty. The beach is part of an important
ecological reserve, also formed by Resting Island

Tambaba
Tambaba is locate in the town of Conde, 40km far
from João Pessoa. It is one of the few beaches
reserved for nudism in Brazil and offers great attractions
even for those who don't practice it. It's scenario
is one of great beauty, practically untouched by
men, with crystal water that forms natural pools.
Tambaba is the Northeast's only nudist beach and
it is constantly visited by groups of brazilian
and foreign tourists, made into a sanctuary where
everything is preserved, including each one's privacy.

Areia Vermelha
In Camboinha, in the town of Cabedelo, the underwater
formation of Areia Vermelha (Red Sand) emerges
when the tide is low and forms a group of beaches
and natural pools for you to enjoy the sun or
the moon, very well located in the middle of the
ocean. You can cherish this peaceful moment and
enjoy the colors of the marine fauna and flora
on the reefs. Taxi-rafts depart from Poço
and camboinha beaches and take tourists to the
island through a route with an approximate extension
of 1km. Tour agencies also offer the same service.

Ponta do Seixas
Here is where the sun comes out first, turning the
extreme east side of the continent into a mystical
source of energy accompanied with unprecedented
beauty. An unforgettable place. Access though Cabo
Branco Avenue coastline.

North Coast
Paraiba's North coast is something that leaves
anyone in peace with oneself and totally at ease
with life. Dense groves of nut palm trees are
molded into white sand and the warm and crystal
water of Cabedelo, Costinha, Forte Velho, Lucena,
Barra de Mamnguape, Baía da Traição
and Barra de Camaratuba beaches. In Lucena, you
can visit the ruins of Bom Sucesso and Santuário
da Guia (Guia Sanctuary). It is a succession of
paradisiacal beaches, not counting in Paraiba
River and the fluvial beach of Jacaré,
which are equally attractive any time of the year.
The access to all these paradises is done through
BR-230 and the crossing between Cabedelo and Costinha
can also be done by ferry-boat. |

Campina Grande
The biggest city in Paraiba's countryside is a great
industrial and commercial center nowadays, which
stands out in the technology field as well as in
software creation and development. Campina Grande
has a varied cultural agenda, in which the greatest
"São João" of the World
stands out with its 30 continuous days of "forró"
and the "Micarande", one of the most traditional
carnivals of the country. Besides this, many concerts
are performed during the year and this consolidates
Campina as the great Northeastern capital of parties
and cultural events. At this rate of development,
Campina Grande lights up with plenty of work and
certainly a lot of fun.

Areia and Ingá
Located 119 kilometers from the capital, Areia
has a busy cultural life. Annually, the birthplace
of paiter José Américo becomes home
of the most famous "brega" (a style
of popular Brazilian music) music festival: the
"Bregareia", which attracts the most
varied kinds of artists, musicians and admirers.
The city also carries out the Nacional Rapadura
Festival ("rapadura" is a large square
of raw brown sugar eaten as food or candy).
It even has a museum dedicated to this traditional
northeastern sweet. Not very far you can find
Ingá's archeological site. 80 kilometers
far from the capital, it is on of the Northeast's
most important archeological monuments. Formed
by a group of rock with rupestrian inscriptions
called "Itacoatiaras", they are considered
by specialist in the subject, the most intriguing
inscriptions ever studied. |

Pedra da Boca
Located in the town of Araruna, 155 kilometers far
from João Pessoa, the State Park of Pedra
da Boca has strong attraction for sportive, adventure
and ecological tourism, due to large rocks, mountain
ranges and unexplored caves found in the region.
Pedra da Boca well known and attracts young mountain
climbers willing to climb the immense stone wall
to its highest point. Paragliding is also very popular
and attracts tourists from other stats, enchanted
by the place's natural beauty and favorable wind
for the practice of this sport.

Father Mathew's "Lajedo"
Mysticism and mystery facinant and challenge the
curiosity of visitors of Father Mathew's Lajedo.
A true exhibition of rocks sculpted through millions
of years and home for a hermit in the 18th century.
Located near the town of Cabaceiras, in the "Cariri"
(an indian culture) region, Father Mathew's lagedo
is the ideal place for those who look for a landscape
that characterizes this region. The cactus and
bromeliad gardens, typical from the "Caatinga"
(a type of student spare forest found in the drought
areas of the northeast of Brazil), hide innumerous
traces of indigenous people and gigantic animals
that lived in these places millions of years ago.

Dinossaur Valley
One of the most important paleonlogical sites of
the world is located in the towns of Sousa, in the
remote interior of Brazil, 420 kilometers far from
João Pessoa. In "Rio do Peixe"
you can find the Dinosaur Valley, with the highest
incidence of dinosaur footprints in the world. Dinosaur
Valley has an area reserved for researchers and
visitors to see the footprints of 130 million year-old
pre-historic animals that marked the land with a
trail of 46 meters in a straight line, with more
than 1/2 a meter of length. the passage of these
animals through Paraíba's countryside arouses
the interest of scientists from all around the worlds,
attracting tourists and curious people on the subject.
